How to Beyoncé Up

Have you watched Beyoncé's documentary, Homecoming, yet?

I watched Homecoming on Saturday. I've listened to the live album nonstop since.

Beyoncé's been the subject of frantic text messages. Instagram DMs full of heart eyes, crown, queen and bumble bee emojis.

"What is it about her!? She's a QUEEN. A creative FORCE. Unwaveringly CONFIDENT. Her confidence is infectious! She makes you want to be confident like her!"

I could go on, but I'll spare you the ongoing gushing exclamations.

Beyoncé is unequivocally a cultural phenomenon.* She holds a crystal clear artistic vision and draws in the support she needs to see it executed. She commits so wholeheartedly to its realization that the only logical result is excellence and artistic progress.

Become the first black woman to headline Coachella? She did that and also wrote, directed and executive produced the entire show to generate amazing video and audio content thereafter. In Beyoncé's own words, Respect that, bow down bitches!

Part of the magic of Homecoming is how much Queen Bey reveals. She talks about sacrifice. She talks about grit. She talks about how hard it was to find any semblance of balance. Just like you, Beyoncé is human. And she worked hard to make her artistic vision come to life.

So here's my question to you: what vision sparks that level of commitment and zeal in you? What conditions do you need to Beyoncé up and step into your greatness?

Write it down. Make it real. Just like the Queen Bey said, If my country ass can do it, they can do it.

It’s time to Beyoncé up.
